2009 BARN NEWS

~ May 09 ~

Here comes summer.  Grass, grass and more grass !!!  The tractors are fired up

and the cutting commences :-)  It beats the cold, snow and ice though, so you'll

NOT hear a complaint from any of us :-) Unfrozen water buckets are like diamonds

shining in the sunlight these days :-)  Oh,  how we love Spring and Summer !!!

We attended our first show of the season on May 3rd  in Saxonburg, PA at Horse on Course.

We decided to take Magic and Rio to start the season. Both did exceptionally well

and we were so proud of how Magic reacted to the trailer ride and all

the commotion of her first showing.  It was a fantastic first show of the season and

nice to see all of our friends there as well. There's nothing like a day at a show with

horses and great friends. Life doesn't get any better than that :-)

~ March 09 ~

Well, we made it through the winter. Whew, almost over, hopefully.

We fared pretty well considering the bitter cold, but we're so glad that

the weather is beginning to break and the horses can finally spend some

quality time outside.  March 6 & 7th..........70 degrees !!!

Hard to believe, but oh SO welcomed !!!

Let's hope the weather cooperates with us now, both for the

horses and for us <big smile>.

Training has begun and we're looking forward to a great show season

this year with some of our "youngin's". We also look forward

to  showing  our Stallion Rio for his first show season. He's coming along great in his

drive training and we anticipate a wonderful first season for Rio. Awesome trot that little guy has !!!

We've plans for some new farm upgrades again this year, time willing, but we'd like to

put more focus on showing this year. Last year just slipped by with all the new

barn/farm improvement/chores and we missed out on many of our regular shows. Here's hoping

that our plans come through this year and we do well at all of our anticipated shows.

We'd like to WELCOME our two new boarders,  Alice and Caroline,  to our barn family.

Caroline is the proud owner of Smoke and Alice is the proud owner of Randy and JB.

~ March 10, 2009 ~

We were invited to be a Presenter at  Pittsburgh's Carnegie Museum's Horse Exhibit being held

from Feb. 28 - May 24, 2009.  We will be taking Blue and Cameo for Presentation on March 21, 2009.

It should be an interesting day as we visited the  Horse Exhibit today

with a couple of our boarders and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The Carnegie

Staff did a wonderful job and should be commended for such an educational presentation !!!

We'll let you know how the day went when we get back on the 21st..

Please visit the museum's page to learn more.

2008 BARN NEWS

~ October Barn News ~

October has been a pretty quiet month around the farm.

We've been doing repairs  in preparation for the coming winter. Where did the summer go?

We did manage to attend one day of the Ligonier Days celebration on Sat. October 11, 2008.

It was a beautiful Indian Summer day and the public turnout was phenomenal.

Misty and Blue seemed to have enjoyed greeting the public, especially

the children. Here are a few photos of the event and our participation.

 ~ June 08 Barn News ~

We finally got the outdoor arena and the indoor arena renovated and they are both

looking wonderful now, not to mention great to work in with the horses. We spent long hours

and long days, but it sure was worth it in the end. We managed to get the entire barn

cleaned inside. We also managed to get some old fencing down in some areas and

some new fencing up in other areas. It's been a very productive and rewarding month

and we can't be more pleased to have accomplished so much in such a short time frame.

On June 29, 2008, Janet and I hosted a PNHA, Inc. one day Level-1 clinic

with Gina Torrell, a 3-Star  Certified Parelli Instructor.  Here are a few photos

taken with us working Fannie and Misty. We had a great time working

with Gina, as did all of the other 8 attendees and their horses.

~ April 2008 Barn News ~

This year Janet and I decided to only breed one mare. It's been a busy winter season and we're still in the process of making repairs and upgrades to our new facility and the 2008 show season is upon us. There's lots of training and refresher training in the coming weeks and we felt it better to only breed one this year. We're still excited about the one new birth and can't wait to see what Dottie will produce for us.

Dottie is due to foal around the end of April.  The camera is installed and we're all quite excited at the new prospect. Once the foal is born, we'll post pictures of the blessed event. Here's a picture one of our boarders snapped of Dottie out in her pasture on a recent Spring day.

Dottie decided to grace us with a little filly sometime during the night (4/23/08). We've estimated she gave birth sometime between 4-6AM. Both Dottie and the baby are doing excellent. Here are a couple of pics that were taken this morning. More photos will follow. Stay tuned............
